    New and nostalgic. Founded in 1935, Unzen Kanko Hotel has continued to change to meet the needs of the times while cherishing the atmosphere of the time. The iconic exterior and 666-square-meter antique dining room. The accumulation of details such as doors, beams, and lighting create a rustic and warm space reminiscent of a mountain hut. Unzen, designated as Japan's first national park, has long been popular as a summer resort for foreigners. In 1932, hotels for foreigners were built all over Japan as a national policy to attract foreign tourists. A Western-style hotel was built in this area blessed with high-quality hot springs and abundant nature, and Unzen Kanko Hotel opened at 10:00 a.m. on October 10, 1935. The iconic building, which incorporates the Swiss chalet style of half-timbering, was the first hotel designed and constructed by Takenaka Corporation, and their passion and high ideals, which they poured all their efforts into completing it, are still reflected in the hotel's style of stay today. (Designer: Toshio Sawara) It was registered as a tangible cultural property by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in January 2003, and was recognized as a modern industrial heritage site by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in November 2007.

About 90 minutes by car from Nagasaki Airport. About 60 minutes from Isahaya IC on the Nagasaki Expressway toward Unzen. From Fukuoka: Other than car / Get off at Isahaya Station on the JR Nagasaki Main Line. 60 minutes by taxi or 80 minutes by bus Car / Via Kyushu Expressway Nagasaki Expressway-Isahaya IC-Route 34 to Route 57, 60 minutes.
